October 2020 update: As we continue to wade through the murk and muck of 2020, you’re bound to have a lot of questions – When can you return to Koh Samui? The Koh Samui Guide 2020 Updates
December 2019: Ready for the New Year? We are! Just before we tuck into our tropical turkey, we wanted to let you know that The Koh Samui Guide is ready with a 2020 refresh. In a hurry? Not to worry – the changes are minor and mostly involve changes to hotels and island businesses (plus an emergency edit to a rather unexpected link click…). Find out what’s changed and how to get your updated guide.
*Existing 7th Edition customers: your updates are included free! See below for details.
What’s changed? Call it Musical Chairs: Island Edition.
Rather than play spot-the-difference, existing customers of The Koh Samui Guide’s 7th edition will notice a new file in their download bundle listing where you’ll notice these changes and their associated page numbers in the guide. In brief:
Hotels: One hotel has shut temporarily for renovations and another has closed forever.
Restaurants: One restaurant has moved and another has closed forever.
Services: One service has changed names and ownership and another has closed.
Events and references: You’ll also spot the switch to the 2020 events lists and updated footnotes where relevant.
Can’t make this up: One island business recently changed their domain name by a single character. Crucially, they didn’t install a redirect to transfer visitors from the old site to the new site. You know where this is going, right? Indeed. The old domain has since lapsed and is now … a website for grown-ups. As for its brief inclusion linked deep within The Koh Samui Guide? Well, don’t they say undersell and overdeliver? Merry Christmas. Our gift to you? A guide that’s once again PG-13.
