Yet many have realised what was obvious all along: night-time is for sleeping! This April, Thailand’s biggest party is relocating to 12 O’Clock noon. Here’s every incredible detail you can look forward to at the first annual Koh Samui Full Sun Party.
Buckets!!! (of sand)
Partying traditionalists turn to alcohol. Yet Full Moon crowds and travellers on a budget have long overlooked the cheapest means of thick-headed, hazy nirvana: total body dehydration.
All liquids confiscated
In line with security measures at airports, stadiums and other worthy festivals, all liquids will be confiscated on entry. This ensures attendees wilt a little faster and enjoy themselves more quickly. Unlike at its more expensive cousin, pre-drinking is discouraged at the Full Sun Party.

Human glow sticks!!!
Glow sticks, a must-have for any Full Moon Party attendee, pose a preponderance of problems:
- the partier must find them,
- have the money to buy them,
- and then choose the perfect moment to snap it into action.
The potential for error is vast and April’s Full Sun Party seeks only success. Therefore, the glow sticks will be the partiers themselves.
All sun protection banned
As with water bottles, sunscreen and sun-protection of all forms are banned from the festival premises. With the Full Sun Party kicking off at noon, attendees (especially those of Northern European and British derivative) can expect to glow red from 12:15 pm onwards.
“I thought I wanted a wild, booze-fuelled party. Not anymore. #FullSunParty will be EPIC.” – Full Sun Partier
How hard to party?
How hard should you party at the Full Sun Party? Organisers hope you and your crew go Hog Wild. Taking in so many UVA/UVB rays, this will surely be the last day of your skin’s youth – so make the most of it and shimmy in the sunshine!
What to bring?
What personal belongings should you bring? This is a free event, so leave your wallet safely back at your hotel. As dehydration overcomes you, it’s unlikely you’ll retain the dexterity to use a camera or phone, so leave those behind too.
Instead, organisers recommend bringing anything to heighten your experience of the sun’s remarkable strength. Suggestions include:
- large mirrors
- rolls of tinfoil
- baby oil
- human-sized magnifying glasses
“After a long winter, we’re coming to Thailand for the sunshine. The timing of the Full Sun Party couldn’t be better.” – Full Sun Partier
Where and when?
When is the Koh Samui Full Sun Party? The kick-off, red carpet event is scheduled at noon on April 1st. Note that Koh Samui beaches will be closed to everyone except Full Sun Party participants.
Can’t make it? If so, you’ll happily find that Koh Samui’s Jellyfish Petting Zoo is open all day.
Oh, one last detail – April Fools.
