Koh Samui Sunrise and Sunset Times

We're finally giving sunrise and sunset on Koh Samui their due attention. When you're *this* close to the equator, the sun appears to drop so quickly at sunset that you can see it moving. Yet the minutes from sunset to dusk are when the show gets really good.

When is sunrise on Koh Samui?

Admittedly we don't have too many Koh Samui sunrise photos in our archives – but the top photo is from our very first trip to Koh Samui – in 2003. Definitely worth the early start!

As for the early stuff – runners and athletes and those who like a really quiet cup of coffee will be interested to know when the roosters wake up. Koh Samui’s beach towns wake up slowly, so early-risers can look forward to sharing beaches with just a few local dogs and busy fishermen. If beach yoga or a gorgeous morning walk sounds good, aim for around 7 am.

Want to see some wildlife? Those interested in Koh Samui’s wildlife and Thai birds will have great luck spotting them at this time of day – our readers’ monitor lizard sightings were all at dawn and dusk.
