Monday

Thai desserts: Melati, Choeng Mon – If you’d love to try the gamut of Thai sweets and desserts, the Melati’s Thai Night at ‘Kan Sak Thong’ restaurant takes the legwork out of doing similar at an island walking street. 6:00pm to 10:30pm. Phone: +66(0) 77 913 400

Tuesday

Boat cruise: Junk Chantara – The beautiful Junk Chantara offers group tours from Samui around Koh Phangan on Tuesdays (11 am to 7 pm).

Sushi: Nikki Beach, Lipa Noi – 'Sushi Blues' every Tuesday at Nikki Beach puts your sashimi in a boat and amps up the live jazz until you're ready to share dessert. From 6 pm. Phone: +66(0) 77 914 500

Tip: Need more ideas for sunset, or gorging yourself on food, drink, sights and scenery? It's all in The Koh Samui Guide

Wednesday

Beach movie: Nikki Beach, Lipa Noi – Cinema on the Sand means a new movie every Wednesday, with dinner and live music until it's dark. From 6 pm. Phone: +66(0) 77 914 500

Thursday

BBQ and fire show: Rocky’s Resort, Lamai and Melati, Choeng Mon – Beach BBQ (buffet), live music and a fire show after dark. Rocky's "Beach BBQ Party": +66 (0) 77 233 020 and Melati: +66 (0) 77 913 400

Sunset boat cruise: Junk Chantara – similar to the Tuesday group tour, the schedule allows for sunset on the boat (11 am to 7 pm).

Friday

Drinks & DJ: Kanda, between Choeng Mon and north Chaweng – 'Fab Fridays' at RockPool (Kanda Residences's in-house, waterfront restaurant and bar) mean colourful G&Ts, drink-and-dinner promos (Beer Buckets and Pizza), live music and/or a busy DJ. 5 pm to 8 pm (and later). Phone: +66(0) 77 234 500

Saturday

Pool Party: KC Beach Club, Chaweng – All are welcome at gay-friendly KC Beach Club's 'Super Saturday', noon to 8 pm. Phone: +66(0) 77 915 155

DJ Pool Party: Beach Republic, Lamai – 'Soulful Saturdays' offer lucky ladies the chance to head back in time ... right around the Mad Men Season 1 era of 1960. Bring a total of 4 females + 4 bikinis (check your hashtag-me-too modern feminist nonsense at the door) to receive a free bottle of bubbles (brand and type of bubbles unspecified – likely not champagne given island bottle prices). To be fair, terms of entry don't stipulate the bikinis must be worn or otherwise strutted to get your freebie – a small-print detail we'd love to see tested by four girls arriving fully dressed with a bag of bikinis... Phone: +66(0) 26 567 116

Boat cruise: Junk Chantara heads to sea again for a group tour, with the same schedule as Tuesday and Thursday.

Sunday

Brunch: The island’s best-known brunch options compete fiercely for top billing and are amongst the most popular Koh Samui weekly events. Beach Republic's more accessible Sunday Sessions are on Lamai Beach from 11:30am to 3:30pm. Nikki Beach promises the world, literally, with its ‘World Famous Amazing Sunday Brunch’ (11 am to 4 pm) in Lipa Noi. Expect themed brunch parties for holidays such as Halloween, etc.

BBQs: Later in the day (and a lot lower key), feast on beach barbeque options. (1) Tango Luxe, Plai Laem: Sunday BBQ at Tango Luxe (at 7 pm, just after sunset) means – among other things – ribs and mashed potatoes. Also consider (2) Belmond Napasai, Maenam – Moo Kata's Barefoot BBQ and fire show.

Kids eat free: Stacked Samui, Chaweng – Fill up your jet-lagged kiddos with the food they’ll inhale without question: burgers, mac and cheese, all the good stuff. Stacked (next to OZO Chaweng) hosts Family Day on Sundays, inviting kids 12 and under to eat free from its children’s menu.

Daily

Happy Hour: W Retreat, Maenam – Bag 2-for-1 happy hour (they call it One 4 One, but the math's the same) at the swish hotel bar, SIP, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm. While SIP is a great place for Instagramming sunset (a consuming hobby indeed), you’ll easily find happy hours at bars and hotels across the island. Phone: +66(0) 77 915 999
